Last snorkelling for the year in Emily and Slaughter bay

This is the last weekend that I usually snorkel before the cooler waters from NZ wash up and make me say brrrrr.

The tropical wildlife that lives below the surface will still be waiting for me when I return in December.

I have enjoyed the Easter weekend public holidays plus Anzac day to go down to the reef and play with my friends. They are a fabulous reminder of our amazing planet.

Here is a go pro underwater video taken by my friends and fellow bloggers. It is definitely worth a 2 minute viewing of your time. You will see why we are so lucky to live here.

Hang on...they are wearing wetsuits!!!
What a novel idea!

I might have to order one for Mothers day and then I can play with my fishy friends in the most incredible coral gardens all year round!

And my husband says he never knows what to buy me for gifts (even after 23 years together)

Helllloooooo....make me a mermaid!

Friday Favourite~ Anzac day 2014

After the dawn service on Norfolk Island commemorating 99 years since the first landing at Gallipoli we sombrely drove all 5 of us home when we paused at the top of our hill to see the first light of dawn.
As my camera was focussing, a far more poignant reminder came into view....It was our freedom.

As someone on my facebook photography page commented...
Thank you Cristina! This is a powerfully beautiful image for ANZAC day rememberance. "With the going down of the sun, and in the dawn, we will remember them".

Friday Favourite~ Cross

Well this shape jumped out at me yet again this Easter as a reminder of my Catholic upbringing perhaps?
It may just be a shadow  of a power pole to some, but to many, it is a symbol of what Easter is all about.

This photo below was the first cross shape that I saw on Good Friday 2011 while driving along at Kingston, since then It seems to be a symbol I subconsciously notice mostly at Kingston around Easter time.

EASTER

Week 3, April 2014 ~ Easter
My good Friday cross
Easter egg hunts at 'Walk in the Wild'

 Minischool Easter fun
Traditionally painting egg cartons for island eggs is done by the school. As it was school holidays, our Minischool-ers and vacation care kids were happy to step in and paint the cartons this year instead.

Eggies and Easter treats send via the mail from family with thanks.

Friday Favourite~ Rainbow Easter carnival

A highlight in our children's school calendar is the Easter carnival. It is held on the last day of school before the school holidays begins.

The school carnival is the major fundraiser for the year and raises approx. $1600 in much needed funds for Norfolk Island Central School.
It is always a magical night for the kids and sometimes has a shower or two, but this year we were blessed with a magical sunset and a double rainbow to begin the festivities.

An afternoon drive

A Friday afternoon drive late after school turned into this :)

It was supposed to be a chance for Mama to snorkel in the low tide & take some photos of the fishies, but some sudden showers of rain dropped the temperature a few degrees and made me chicken out!

so some games on the beach was our chosen activity.

I LOve this one of all of them doing their own thing.

Teddy was throwing and catching sand, Sienna was singing and dancing and Jasper was digging.

Peri-Peri loved just being with us.

Another moment in the golden hour on Norfolk Island that we will treasure forever ♥

WINDOW

Week 1 April. 'Window'

This is the first of the weekly prompts I came up with to highlight all the amazing images that are taken on Norfolk Island each year.

It is time for everyone to share.

Each week there will be a weekly prompt of a word that will hopefully inspire you to take or find one of your photos that fits that prompt word.

You post your image onto Norfolk Island Tourism's facebook page and add the hashtag #norfolkislandpic.

It is that simple!!!

Most importantly...Challenge yourself and have fun!

This weeks prompt is WINDOW so here is mine.

Here is what Norfolk Island Tourism said about me on facebook :)
‪#‎Norfolkisland‬ Tourism has taken on a suggestion from one of our passionate locals - Cristina Rose to invite our fans to post photos on to our wall, thereby giving us permission to share, that capture or demonstrate a word that we will provide on a weekly basis. Our word for the first week of April is "Window" ‪#‎norfolkislandpic
