Friday Favourite ~ 11th November

Happy Remembrance Day.
Happy Birthday Bill McRitchie. I am sorry I never got to meet you.

This week there have been some amazing sunsets on Norfolk Island.

As I was driving home one evening, I saw this amazing sight.

The blue/ mauve Jacaranda tree up the road from home was caught in the orange sunlight and it completely changed the colour of the flowers.

Beautiful!

 Our beloved Cronulla Sharks are going into the NRL grand final.
We are so excited, that we decorated our fence at preschool.
Jasper (6) can sing the theme song up up Cronulla to anyone who asks who his favourite team are.

 This week it was my birthday. We headed to one of my favourite places, Cemetery beach.

Sienna discovered a large patch of daisies growing behind the sand dunes, we had fun lying on them to take these photos.

I love our dog reflected in her glasses in this one.

Its time to bring back my Friday favourite photo to reflect on my week.

Life has gotten so busy with the preschool and 3 growing children but I need to remind myself to stop once and a while to look back at a week in this awesome life I am lucky to be experiencing.

This is the moon last night from my back deck... of course as always, the real full moon is tonight and it is cloudy!

I have only seen it rise out of the ocean here a small handful of times over the past 10 years. There always seems to be a bank of cloud on the horizon on full moon nights.

I am glad I snapped these last night.

Friday Favourite~ Turning 11

Ted and I found this photo when he was a week old and joked that we should re-create it 'one day'.
We love seeing peoples funny recreated baby photos .

On the eve of his 11th birthday last night, I asked him for one last cuddle with my 10 year old boy, he laughed and said "just like that old photo of us Mum".

So Brandt snapped this photo and we put them together.

In a snap of the fingers...where did 11 years go?

Friday Favourite~ Anzac day 2014

After the dawn service on Norfolk Island commemorating 99 years since the first landing at Gallipoli we sombrely drove all 5 of us home when we paused at the top of our hill to see the first light of dawn.
As my camera was focussing, a far more poignant reminder came into view....It was our freedom.

As someone on my facebook photography page commented...
Thank you Cristina! This is a powerfully beautiful image for ANZAC day rememberance. "With the going down of the sun, and in the dawn, we will remember them".

Friday Favourite~ Cross

Well this shape jumped out at me yet again this Easter as a reminder of my Catholic upbringing perhaps?

It may just be a shadow  of a power pole to some, but to many, it is a symbol of what Easter is all about.

 

 

 

 

This photo below was the first cross shape that I saw on Good Friday 2011 while driving along at Kingston, since then It seems to be a symbol I subconsciously notice mostly at Kingston around Easter time.

Friday Favourite~ Rainbow Easter carnival

 A highlight in our children's school calendar is the Easter carnival. It is held on the last day of school before the school holidays begins.

 The school carnival is the major fundraiser for the year and raises approx. $1600 in much needed funds for Norfolk Island Central School.

 It is always a magical night for the kids and sometimes has a shower or two, but this year we were blessed with a magical sunset and a double rainbow to begin the festivities.

What was once my vibrant preschool is now just a clean and empty shell.

Nothing was left except for the murals I painted on the back fences 4 years ago, we couldn't take those with us.

Looking forward to creating even more happy memories in our new home.

Friday Favourite ~ Date Night

Friday nights have turned into date night.

With my little man.
His Dad works as a singer on Friday nights, his big brother and sister play social tennis with dinner for 2 hours and usually my little man falls asleep after an exhausting yet fun 5 days at preschool with me.
When he is awake though, we do some great one on one time when he doesn't have to share me with anyone else.

Tonight he chose to have a hamburger and watch the rough waves at Kingston until it got dark and the Historic Georgian buildings were lit up.

We had the place to ourselves and I was told often how much he loves me with hugs and kisses.

Tonight all the struggles of muminess melted away with my littlest man's smiles and love.

Friday Favourite ~ A Smile that lights up my life.

My big boy has just flown the coop for the very first time. His first solo flight to go and see his grandparents & family in his beloved city of Sydney for his 10th Birthday.
This excited smile was just before boarding the plane today.
Miss him already.

Friday Favourite~Shadows

 By chance I took a detour drive to Kingston because the light was so pretty this week. I happened upon these shadows on the hill created by the sun setting behind this avenue of Norfolk Island Pine trees below.

 I only got to take a small handful of shots before the sun disappeared behind a cloud and the shadows were no more.

Poor little man. Preschool is so much fun that as soon as all the other kids go home at 3pm, he falls asleep on the carpet or in the car.
