M is also for MINISCHOOL. My beloved preschool that I live and breathe 24/7 (the venue, the children, the fun).

O is for OCEAN

Norfolk Island is surrounded by the South Pacific. It has brought the original occupant via boat, the Polynesians, the first and second convict settlement and the Pitcairn Islanders on the Morayshire.
Today the salty ocean air can be breathed in as a way of relaxing, it provides fish for dinner, surfing, swimming and outrigging as a recreational sport. The ocean regulates our beautiful temperatures here, brings our supplies via ship.... but the best reason of ...all is that you can stand on top of the mountain and see the sun rise and the sun set over the ocean all in one day!

surf school at Emily bay

 

On the first day of summer, the Norfolk Island Boardriders association decided to hold a junior boardriders surf school expecting around 20 youngsters around 10 years of age to turn up.

What they didn't expect was the 60 plus kids from 5 years old to teens who all came wanting to learn or develop their board skills.

I have never seen Emily bay resembling Cronulla beach in numbers before. What a great turn out of new junior members of the association.

Norfolk Island always has plenty to offer and surfing and water sports are a great activity to be involved with as we are surrounded by water!

 My kids loved it. We hope they can hone their skills this summer so it wont be long before they can go out surfing with their Dad.

Here is Brandt, doing one of the things that he loves best, surfing.
I was doing one of the things that I love best too, taking photos.

I love digital, I used to spend so much money getting films developed for a handful of really great photos, now it is just a click and a zoom and crop to pick the best.
I have new camera now, it is a Canon SLR digital, and for the amount of photos I take, it is worth it, I want capture everything, and remember every moment, with photos, you can share each captured moment.
I had more photos to send of the kids playing, but after 2 days of trying to upload them, I am giving up, for today.
