Day 11. I LOVE doing this & Day 12. Macro.
My Macro sand/shells on Norfolk Island |
If I had a choice of doing two things away from being with my kids and just had time for doing something for myself it would be beachcombing and snorkelling if the water is warm enough.
These photos are taken in the clearest water in Emily bay and Slaughter bay on Norfolk Island.
I snorkelling in many parts of Oahu Hawaii and found the water murky, the coral uninteresting and the water like Japanese peak hour... I kept thinking...get me home to Norfolk Island!

Day Nine. 2 o'clock.
This was 2 O'clock at my preschool
It was a really wet day so we were all doing some lovely inside work and then we got a little bit of cabin fever and started going a bit crazy :)

I put together this little peek-a-boo sequence after the rugby today........then

As I was driving to take some photos at the convict night tonight I had to stop in the street (Queen Elizabeth Avenue) to capture this peek-a-boo moon.
The Pine tree & power pole are lit up by my headlights and gives an eerie glow.
I am quite in love with the picture below as a quick snapshot...of course it would have been wonderful with a tripod and time to fiddle with settings etc.

Day Seven. A Sign.
The rainbow across the road from my house looking over Ball bay and Philip Island. |
These magical coloured bows remain a link to us even though it has been 17 years since she died.

Day Six. This means a lot to me.
What means a lot to me?
Well every mother would say their children, I also want to be the child who says my Mother!
I guess what means the most to me right now are the most wonderful memories.
I remember jumping into bed with my parents in the morning, My kids do it with them too.
We seems to be too rush rush rush these days to even have a morning in bed let alone lying around talking as a family in there.
Dear Mum,
Thank you!
Love your baby.

My beautiful Mum making my kids laugh as always. I just need to add my husband, my Dad and more and more of my family members to complete the list of what means a lot to me. |
My Mum, my first teacher and the one who inspires me to be a better person everyday.
I had the most wonderful preschool years at home with my mum, it was never boring. The smell of making fresh playdough reminds me of these times.
I once asked my Mum when I was in my mid twenties what I was like as a child expecting the answer the dwell on what I remembered being...whingy, clingy, cheeky, saying inappropriate things and annoying to everyone.
The simple answer came back "delightful".
That was a great lesson learned for me that day to see & remember your children when they are doing their best and they will see themselves that way too.
The most precious of memories, Mum playing ten in the bed with my kids last month, she was always the first to roll out leaving the kids in fits of laughter. |

Day Five. Early
Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am never early for anything.
So the only thing that was early was my first born son.
Here he is 3 1/2 weeks old on his due date and finally having reached the milestone of 6lb.

This is one of the only newborn 'photos' I have here on the island of him as I didn't go digital until he was 4 months old, the rest of his baby photos are in storage...this one was hiding in my wallet. But at least I took it myself ☺

Day Four. Fresh.
There is nothing like fresh dew on the grass catching the first light of the morning.
They contain my favourite colours...rainbows

Day Three. Skyline
Here on Norfolk Island our skyline is either trees or the horizon line on the ocean, follow it for 360 degrees.

Friday Favourite ~ Date Night
Friday nights have turned into date night.
With my little man.
His Dad works as a singer on Friday nights, his big brother and sister play social tennis with dinner for 2 hours and usually my little man falls asleep after an exhausting yet fun 5 days at preschool with me.
When he is awake though, we do some great one on one time when he doesn't have to share me with anyone else.
Tonight he chose to have a hamburger and watch the rough waves at Kingston until it got dark and the Historic Georgian buildings were lit up.
We had the place to ourselves and I was told often how much he loves me with hugs and kisses.
Tonight all the struggles of muminess melted away with my littlest man's smiles and love.

Day Two. Incomplete
There are so many unfinished projects around our house that could be photographed for this theme.
I ended up showing you a pole that only got painted to where I could reach (being only 5ft tall with a short reach, I leave things like this a lot. I actually left a whole room painted like this).
and secondly a painting that I never loved enough to complete, It sits in my hall graveyard of similar paintings waiting to find its mojo again.

Day One. Something beginning with 'N'
I could have gone with the obvious Norfolk Island pine tree for something beginning with 'N' but you have seen plenty of them in my recent Silhouettes blog post.
Instead I went with 'New Leaves' on my cherry guava tree.
Day One of the FMS Photo a day Challenge
Joining in a photo challenge. It is a scary prospect.
I am biting the bullet and joining in after resisting this for a long time.
I actually attempted it one busy December and stopped after 2 weeks...the rest of December from 2010 is still in my drafts.
Encouraged by a group of similar minded and talented photo enthusiasts on the island, I am doing a photo a day for the month of August.
Here is the list as prompted by Fat Mum Slim
Wish me luck!
